Frequently Asked Questions

No. FretVision uses a magnetic mounting system that attaches to the guitar body near the soundhole. No drilling, no adhesive, and no permanent changes are required. Setup takes under 60 seconds.

Yes. The device includes free core features: basic scale projection, open chord guides, and access to 50 songs in the free library. The AI Coaching Subscription unlocks the full song library (10,000+ songs), personalized AI practice plans, real-time performance analysis, and progress tracking.

The FretVision device has a built-in microphone that listens to the notes you play. The audio is processed on-device using a machine learning model trained on guitar performance data. The AI detects incorrect notes, timing errors, and string buzz, then adjusts the projection in real time — for example, highlighting a problem area in red or slowing down the projection tempo until you demonstrate accuracy. Your performance data is used to update your personal practice plan after each session.

FretVision provides approximately 8 hours of continuous use on a full charge. Charging via USB-C from empty to full takes about 2 hours. A low-battery indicator light on the device turns amber when 20% charge remains and red when 10% remains.

FretVision processes audio locally on the device. Raw audio is never uploaded or stored on external servers. Anonymized performance metrics (note accuracy rates, session duration, tempo data) are synced to your account to power the AI coaching features. You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from the app.

Basic projection features (chord diagrams, open scales) work without the app via the device’s onboard controls. The app is required for song library access, AI coaching, and progress tracking.

FretVision offers a 30-day satisfaction guarantee. If you are not satisfied for any reason, return the device in its original packaging for a full refund. The AI Coaching Subscription can be cancelled at any time and will not renew after the current billing period ends.

Smart guitars (such as the Fender Mustang Micro or Jammy Guitar) embed hardware LEDs directly into the fretboard, typically cost $500 or more, and require you to use their proprietary instrument. FretVision works on the guitar you already own and costs a fraction of the price.

FretVision is currently available for pre-order. Estimated ship date for initial orders is Q3 2026. Subscribers to the AI Coaching plan who pre-order will receive priority fulfillment.
